This Spring Rocky Mountain Underground, along with the Nate and Mark from San Juan Mountain Guides spent some time at the OPUS hut outside of Silverton Co. Surrounded by endless terrain and 20+ inches of fresh snow RMU had a great time. We skied hard, ate well, and got to live the dream for a few days! The OPUS hut is the nicest back country hut in North America. It sleeps 16 people, keeps an average temp of 60 degrees and has running water, electricity, and two bathrooms! We were hard pressed to try and have more fun in a more comfortable setting!
Bought this on Whiskey Militia in the $70 price range (plus shipping) for my lady. She liked it, but wanted a drop deck so she can kick easier, so we ended up getting a Landyachtz Switch for her instead. This just sits around doing nothing now.

50$ plus shipping takes this fun little carver. Northern VT mags willing to hand off can save on shipping.

Great for cruising and carving... not so great for bombing hills.

I just now saw an ad for a the Full Tilt Konflict boot...they're toutincg it as the next thing in ski boot comfort (that ain't saying a lot).

To me the thing sort of reminds me of Raichle's Flexon boot, which, if I remember right, was a mutt of a boot...the whole front sorta opened up, but had the feeling of a rear-entry boot. There were a few others of that design type...can't even remember what the design was called. But I DO remember, that while they were fairly comfortable the first month or so...everything inside crapped out after that...and they never really had good precise feel even when new.

These things look about the same...just with different bells and whistles. Obviously Raichle sold the design back to the inventer or whatever.

Raichle at one time made the BEST (IMO) all-leather mountaineering boots in the world. Wish I still had my dad's pair.

Here's the Raichle Flexon:

Here's the Full Tilt Konflict:

Looks oddly familiar eh?

I remember when the Flexons first hit the scene, they were touted as being developed directly from NASA space-suit research. Great...but skiing is anything BUT zero-gravity!

Maybe they're for people that ski like THIS:

and NOT like THIS:

Any feedback on these Full Tilt Konflicts? Is Full Tilt really Raichle re-badged and trying to bring back a bad idea? or is the Konflict THE SHIT?

They've got to be Raichle designs. No one else can come up with the same design without getting sued. I know SOME peeps LOVED their Flexons....I hated mine. Had them for 1 year...and the liners just went to crap.

YES...I KNOW Seth Morrison and a number of famous racers skied the Flexons...they were also paid HANDSOMELY to do so!!!!

I guess I wouldn't be so down on the Flexons if they just had a better liner...maybe the Full Tilts fixed the liner issue?

This was in Trifide 1 in La Grave, on April 21. The conditions here are incredible at the moment, and the snow that day was so good, I switched my brain off and forgot about the possibility of debris down the bottom.

The actual skiing starts at about 1.20, but I wanted to include my friend's comedy attempt at a kick turn too...

Sorry for the lame post but I'm in need of some serious nerd help. As of a few hours ago both on my laptop and my mother in law (who is visiting and connecting wirelessly), we cannot use or get to any Google sites. No gmail, no Blogger, no calendar...nothing. it just times out with a 404 error. Running AVG virus protection and nothing found so far. We both can get to other webpages no problem.

The only thing noteworthy to happen to my computer today was I did get a threat notification about a Exploit Blackhole something, which I blocked. Then I checked the virus vault and deleted 2 things in there.

WTF ? One cannot function.without Google! Help

So I'm thinking of getting a bike. I was in a really bad bike/car wreck as a teenager and haven't been on one since. However, I need to get way more exercise and I hate going to the gym, so recreational biking sounds like it might be OK.

After my accident I'm not cool with riding on streets, and it's borderline suicide with Sacramento drivers anyway, so this thing will only get used on dirt or on dedicated bike trails. Some basic mountain stuff sounds really fun, but I don't see myself doing any hardcore downhill or anything. Maybe I'll get into it, but I need to get into way better shape before that, and I'll just buy a better bike when that time comes. So basically I'm looking for something that's relatively easy for a beginner to ride and OK at multiple purposes, but not a piece of crap. I think I'd rather be biased toward dirt if I have to choose 'cause there's a lot more off-road trails around than paved ones and I can ride a mountain bike on a paved surface if I have to.

Any recommendations? I'd really rather not spend more than like $6-700 and cheaper would obviously be awesome. I don't have a problem with a used bike.
